It’s not easy to replace a local legend, but first-year UNH men’s hockey coach Mike Souza is up to the task.
Fans everywhere are getting geared up for the start of the hockey season, but at UNH it’s the start of something more. For the first time in 28 years, the men’s ice hockey team will have a new bench boss. Following the retirement of coach Dick Umile, Mike Souza takes over for the Wildcats as the 13th head coach in team history. Souza is certainly not new to the scene, as he graduated from UNH in 2000 and spent the last three years as an associate head coach under Umile.
Find out how coach Souza is feeling about the team – and his new role – heading into the season.
